(Conditions of Fishing)
Public access by considerate anglers is encouraged. However, we need to ensure that the resource is kept in good condition for everyone to enjoy and therefore, we need to have rules to govern access and use of the resource. All anglers must abide by the rules below. Any angler caught breaking these rules will risk being banned from accessing the fishings at Glen Finglas reservoir.
There will be a maximum of 3 boats allowed on the water.
The maximum number of anglers per boat will be 3 adults. In the case of accompanied junior anglers under supervision, the maximum number on any boat will be 2 adults and 2 juniors or 3 adults and 1 junior angler.
In order to minimise the risk to anglers when rapid draw-off could occur, there is a fishing exclusion zone whereby anglers MUST not fish within 200 metres of the Dam wall at any time.
All users of the club boats and equipment must be competent in the safe use of the equipment.
All anglers must ensure that boats are not launched or used on the reservoir in unsuitable weather conditions.
Anglers must ensure that they wear appropriate safety protective equipment such as buoyancy jackets or life jackets whilst fishing the water
All junior anglers under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Anglers must park in the anglers car park area and must not create a nuisance to the residents in the area of Glen Finglas reservoir.
Boats must be checked over generally by all users each time they visit the water and will report any observations of defects to the club officials.
Electric Outboards are the only allowable means of mechanical propulsion for boats
Fishing will be by fly fishing only. No bubble floats and flies will be allowed.
Fishing allowed only from boats
Season Commences 15th March to 6th October inclusive
The minimum takeable size of fish will be 8” or 200 millimetres.
The maximum bag limit will be 20 fish per boat.
All anglers must complete a catch return at the completion of the days fishing or report a return to the Club Secretary within 5 days.
Anglers must not leave any litter at the reservoir and must dispose of nylon fishing line safely and remove unwanted line from the reservoir.
No fires are allowed.
No camping around the shores of the reservoir.
All anglers must observe the Countryside Code and contribute to the Club’s voluntary stewardship of the fishings at the reservoir.
Anglers are requested to carry a useable mobile telephone and note of emergency contact numbers when fishing the water.
All anglers will be required to be polite and courteous when in contact with any members of the public, residents around the Glen Finglas reservoir area, visiting anglers and employees of the Landlords in the area of the reservoir.
